Acupressure, Jin Shin Do®
Jin Shin Do acupressure was originally developed in Buddhist temples located in China. The technique was first developed by the Chinese but then migrated into Japan. In Japan, the techniques perfected by the Buddhists were mated with indigenous Japanese techniques. This first mating took place in the early 1900s after which a man by the name of Jiro Murai reworked the techniques and perfected the process. He called his new development, Jin Shin Jitsu. Attending one of these workshops was a woman by the name of Mary Lino Burmeister. Mary took the technique she'd learned in Japan and brought them back to the United States. Haruki went on to become a teacher himself, individually topped the techniques to Iona Marsaa Teeguarden, who through years of research, practice, and development first introduced Jin Shin Do to the world.
