On-site Massage
On-Site massage services have been around for over twenty years now and have grown into a bigger industry than anyone had ever imagined. This is the reason that so many massage therapy students are considering on-site massage as a career. Perhaps the biggest reason that this has become such a preferred career choice of massage therapists is due to the fact that it is much different job than a typical massage therapist position. One of the main differences is, obviously, that you are not working in the same place all day. If you are someone that doesn’t like to be stuck in the same office all day, on-site massage therapy might be for you. For those of you that are unfamiliar with on-site massage therapy, below you will find some great information that will help you understand everything you need to know.
On-site massage therapy is something that was mostly popularized by American business men that utilized the services of on-call massage therapists while they were at work. There were many different names that were given to this service. One nick name was the “coffee break massage”. Perhaps the biggest advantage of working as an on-site massage therapist is the fact that you will have the freedom to practice and make money without having to rent out a clinic or work for someone else. The only expenses that you will have are that of transportation and maintenance of your massage chair and any other equipment. This is the ideal situation for a lot of people that are just getting into massage therapy as a career.
There are also many massage therapists that work for clinics already but decide to use on-site massage therapy as a means of making extra money on the side. This can also be a very effective technique for building clientele. Many massage therapists aspire to open their own practice one day. In order to do this, the best thing to do is make sure that you have the clients that will allow you to sustain your business. The clients of an on-site massage therapist are usually very loyal and will almost always follow you to your new practice.
There are a few things that you will have to consider in terms of education if you are thinking about on-site massage therapy as a career. Once you have graduated from a certified, accredited massage therapy school, you will also benefit from specializing in chair and on-site massage techniques. The average on-site massage course will require knowledge in areas including pathology, kinesiology, anatomy, massage technique theory, physiology, reflexology, and acupuncture. In addition to these things, you will also have to have at least 100 hours of clinical, hands on experience. There are many different courses that vary in length. The average time for this type of course is around 2 weeks to 6 months. It will all depend on the exact skills that the course teaches. Of course, the certification that graduation of any specific course provides will ultimately determine your eligibility for working within the field and or clinics.
