Rubenfeld Synergy® Method

The Rubenfeld Synergy® Method of healing looks at a patient holistically and instead of seeking to fix individual problems as they occur, instead looks to bring optimal health to the entire body. In fact, the body is only one area on which the Rubenfeld Synergy® Method focuses. The other three areas include the mind, emotions, and spirit. Some methods of healing combine the mind with emotions and spirit and treat all three as one, often called the psyche. Instead, the Rubenfeld Synergy® Method recognizes that each area is independent in its needs and so must be addressed individually and in ways that recognized the interconnectedness of the body in order to bring about healing.

The Rubenfeld Synergy® Method was first taught in the 1970s after it was developed by founder Ilana Rubenfeld. Rubenfeld became interested in finding physical healing practices in order to heal her own physical pain as it was experienced in her work as a musical conductor. The training for the Rubenfeld Synergy® Method has two goals, as described by the technique’s founder. The first is using a gentle listening touch by practitioners in combination with guided verbal tools that help patients for to experience physical and mental releases that lead to increased health. The second goal is the creation of a community of practitioners who can share practices with one another in order to provide the best possible treatments to patients around the world.

The Rubenfeld Synergy® Method recognizes that many physical problems are actually just physical presentations of mental or emotional disturbances. As such, the method looks specifically to aid those mental or emotional disturbances in order to have a positive impact on the physical being. Instead of treating physically first and then looking for psychological connections to address, all systems of the body are addressed at once. The technique used in the Rubenfeld Synergy® Method is called the gentle listening touch because practitioners are taught to become in tune with their patients. This listening occurs not only in listening to what the patient may have to share, but in listening with fingers in order to observe the reactions that may occur through the physical and guided techniques.

When you become a Rubenfeld Synergy® Method practitioner, you will provide both physical and psychological treatments to your patients. Unlike methods used by medical doctors or psychologists, you will instead look at the integrated body and help guide patients in healing themselves through your careful guidance. For the comfort of your patients, you may also choose to integrate other methods of massage or guided meditation techniques as may be appropriate. Most often, your patients will require a series of appointments in order to be restored to full physical health. In addition, they may also require ongoing appointments in order to maintain the best Synergy® between the four primary systems of their being: the body, the mind, their emotions and their spirit.
